MAPS Test

The reading MAPS test that second graders take was cancelled yesterday due to difficulties with the testing program. It had been rescheduled for Friday the 7th. Both first and second graders are still scheduled to take the math MAPS test on this coming Monday the 3rd. 

Valentines Party

Cereal Boxes

We still need a lot of empty cereal boxes. Even if you've brought some in, if you have more it'd be great if we could have them. Thank you!!

MAPS Test Prep

We will be taking the MAPS Math test very soon and have been working in class to be as ready as we can be.  Here is a list of math skills that would be great to review at home and go over again on IXL to help be ready for the test:

• addition (even up to two-digit with regrouping)
• subtraction
• missing addends (2+ __= 6)
• place value (ones, tens, hundreds, thousands)
• greater than, less than
• time
• elapsed time
• money:counting
• money: making change
• 2d & 3d shapes
• measuring length (including perimeter)
• data interpretation (graphs)
• word problems
• fractions
• simple multiplication and division

Super Spirit Day

Next Friday, the 31st, is a Super Spirit Day.  Students can wear a crazy hat on this day or CRES clothes in order to count for spirit points.

First Book Project

The first book project will be going home today.  All the students will be coming home with a library book, instructions, and their special paper that has been cut into the shape of a house.  Below are some of instructions in case you lose them.  We have also included a rubric in the packet that's going home that shows how their grades will be given once the project is due.  The most important aspect of these book projects is effort. We are focusing on the details and effort that the kiddos put into their projects including neat handwriting (they can be typed, but do not have to be), coloring and details such as furniture, curtains, bricks, flowers, bushes, etc. being added to the house.  Please let us know if you have any questions or need another set of instructions.

First Book Project

Report Cards

Report cards went home today in Friday folders.  Please let us know if you need a second copy of the report card.  Send the envelopes back to school on Tuesday with your signature and make sure to keep the report card at home for you. We will be taking the MAPS test soon and will send home reports afterward that show your child's progress on those as well as specific items in class they are doing well in or could use extra help with.  Please let us know if you have any questions and have a great weekend!
