Homework Reminder

Just a friendly reminder that each week students need to choose at least 3 spelling activities off the chart on the cover on the front of their packet to do (using the spelling words) AND they must do the white worksheets that are attached.  The yellow pages are optional and only need to be done if that is one of the "choices" they pick.  Please let us know if you have any questions.

Book bags will be going home on Tuesday.  They will need to come back every day with the reading log filled out by the students and signed by an adult.

Flashlights

We are missing flashlights (off the class-specific supply list) from quite a few people.  You will get these back at the end of the year, but we have some fun activities planned that require a working flashlight.  Thanks!

MAPS Testing

MAPS testing began this week at school.  Here are the times that our class is scheduled to go...

• Friday, August 22nd at 1:00- Math (all girls)
• Tuesday, August 26th at 9:00- Math (all boys)
• Thursday, September 4th at 9:00- Reading (all girls)
• Thursday, September 4th at 1:00- Reading (all boys)

Homework

The first homework of the year went home yesterday.  It will be due on Friday.  The homework is starting off on the easier side in order to ease into the routine of things.  Once we pass the "review" period it will become a little more challenging and will be differentiated for students. 

The book bags will begin going home the week of September 1st.  If the book that's sent home does not take the full twenty minutes to read, please choose a second book from your home collection to read.  You are always welcome to read more than that as well. :)
