Some new resources and info we were given today:
NWEA and Khan Academy have partnered up to correlate Khan
Academy exercises with Math MAP RIT scores. Below are the links to find
the documents, by grade band, that link RIT scores to appropriate
exercises. (You do have to scroll down a few pages to find the
links.) This could be a great way to differentiate a center during your
math remediation/intervention/enrichment block. As every program has its
benefits and pitfalls I would strongly recommend that you at least view the
video that’s provided as a support for students before assigning them an
exercise. While viewing, please be looking for any mathematical
inaccuracy (especially in regards to models and vocabulary) and misconceptions
that student may form.
Throughout the document on the link below there will be active links that will take you to the different sections of the math test and your child's RIT score. Use the RIT score (3-digit number) that your child scored on the report that went home to determine which range they should practice in. It would be a great idea to practice the range above where they are at as well.
